This is worthy of its own thread. I have been bumping this mix for a few days and each time I peep this I find more crazy rare raw ass Hip hop and another genuine WTF moment. Once in a while you get a link to a "free" mixtape that is absolutly worth downloading and this 3 hour monster is that exception. If you haven't already, give this a thorugh listen.

Whatdya think?

There's a Beastie Boys demo of "Scenerio" on there that is super short that blew my mind last night when I heard this, BTW.

Making a mix like this must have been a logistical nightmare though, all those sources some of them clearly beat up tapes, with the flooded bass sound that old Hip Hop tapes get after too many listens. Overall, he did a pretty amazing job cleaning em up and mixing them so they sounded fluid despite quality differences. No wonder this took him years to mix.

One minor problem with the overall mix is I found myself adjusting the volume a lot on this up and down to balance out some songs that were louder than other. I wondered it running it through my Sony Soundforge's WAV hammer plugin would balance out all the tracks and other than a very loud intro, it did fix the problem of some songs being super loud and others being more muffled. I know why JS-1 didn't do that before dropping the mix, he probably liked some of the nuances that get removed when you apply an overall effect like that which drops the volume 6 decibles, then maximizes the volume, but in this case it really leveled out the music so it sounds like every song is loud. For this tape I like the results of that compression.

Feel free to DL the remastered mix HERE. In a nutshell, It's the same as the DL above it's just louder more leveled out and no clipping.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is the best Hip Hop compilation download I've gotten since Top Shelf came out years ago.

So after you get a chance to peep this, let's discuss.

I like this a lot, although I would have liked it more with less juggling / doubles routines.
(I have the full length Beasties Scenario track... it's the same lyrics repeated three times with each of them spitting the same verse. Apparently they were going to cut it together and make it an interplay thing, or I think I read that somewhere.)
