Little Brother – The Listening LP (ABB Records) 2003

^I coulda put this on P’s underappreciated Hip Hop albums thread. I think it wasn’t underappreciated when it came out, I remember the hype, but now I think it’s almost a bit of a forgotten classic. I haven’t played it in years so I figured I’d bust it out for the throw back vibes. It really is as relevant today as it was back then. This is Justice League’s finest MCs doing their finest work.

Yeah man - I agree...it wasn't underappreciated when it was out...and a year or so after...but fast forward to 2013, i think time has defintiely made this album underappreciated. Not to mention the virtual representation of the Justice League foundation via the website and forum, "The Lawn' going defunct and close down shop almost 2 years now, has almost made daily talk/conversation/discussion about Little Brother, Edgar Allen Flow, Median, LEGACY, The Away team, etc., practicaly obsolete. I think via a few random singles of the affiliates (over the past year), independent, low-key albums releases (with no marketing or push) of Big Pooh and Phonte respective album releases) and the emergence of the female emcee, Rapsody has kinda-sorta kept the relevancy, but.....damn....it'll never go back to the way it used to be for them....we are confused

...personally i think the closing of the justiceleague.com crushed all they built (up to that time), and finally did them in. They never should've shut that down, IMO. anyways, let me get off my soap-box soap box rant

Wow...i'm ashamed to say that it's been so long that i've listened to the "the Listening', that I have kinda forgotten about it. 9th Wonder, Phonte and Big Pooh at their best. Might i use the term, "classic", without getting beat up - LOL...?!?! i will break that out, tonight and rock that....prolly for the next few days...

Last night...

Gangstarr - No More Mr. Nice Guy LP (Wild Pitch) 1989

^Got this in fantastic shape OG LP of Gangstarr's first album. I was a lil irked it didn't have the cover, but I'll live. What's with the Jazzy Joyce signature on that though? Does that mean that it was owned by Jazzy Joyce? If so, she barely played this it's NM. If not why is her signature on a Gangstarr album, doesn't make sense. Hmmm Oh well, I bought this for the music so whatever.

London Posse - London Posse 12" (Big Life) 1987

^Finally found this locally and snatched it up! Man the beat on this is so simple and so tight, fantastic single from this UK crew that I need to build on.

Oh yeah....@ Rchecka...and I guess everyone else interested....

...dope pick up on that London Posse 12".....I still have my original 12" copy of that - copped in London, during that time of release. Dope raps and nice beat." - deep Bass (on a good system)...loved the reggae steez - especially for that time in rap (wasn't too many people doing that...but maybe Shinehead, in different way). Dope b-side too....'My Beatbox Reggae Style' - loved the (light) scratches on the background of that track - it all came together smoove.
