I'm guessing that everyone probably knows of Snoop Dogg's re-emergence as, "Snoop Lion", after a trip to Jamaica, last year, and had a (so-called) spiritual/religious conversation to Rastafarism. ***whatever, Snoop***

anyways, former Wailer (from Bob Marley and the Waliers), Bunny Wailer has something to say about it.....

***jacked from TMZ***

Snoop Lion Rejected by Bunny Wailer & Rastas

Snoop Lion, nee Snoop Dogg, has done the seemingly impossible -- pissed off a bunch of ganja smoking Rastafarians -- who claim he lied about becoming a Rasta just to make a movie and sell records ... and now they're threatening to sue.

The hip-hop superstar previously revealed he had been anointed Snoop Lion by a Rastafarian priest after experiencing a spiritual awakening while recording his first reggae project, "Reincarnated." He adopted the traditional dress and dreadlocked hair during his time in Jamaica and filmed his transformation for a documentary, also titled "Reincarnated."

Bunny Wailer -- an original member of Bob Marley and the Wailers -- tells TMZ he's heated about the docu-film "Reincarnated" ... which documented Snoop's immersion in the Rasta culture as he recorded his first reggae album in Jamaica last year.

Wailer claims Snoop has engaged in "outright fraudulent use of Rastafari Community's personalities and symbolism" -- and has failed to meet "contractual, moral and verbal commitments."

And it's not just Bunny who feels burned -- leaders of something called the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council (aka Rastafari Millennium Council) -- fired off a 7-page demand letter to Snoop.

In the docs they claim to have made it clear to Snoop that "smoking weed and loving Bob Marley and reggae music is not what defines the Rastafari Indigenous Culture!"

Bottom line ... they want Snoop to stop using the name "Lion" ... pay up the "financial and moral support" they claim he committed, and issue a public apology.

If Snoop refuses -- FIRE WILL BUN FI HIM!! Or in layman's terms ... they're gonna sue his ass. We called Snoop for comment, and so far no word back.

I think they've got a legitimate point in their criticism. I studied Rastafarianism pretty seriously in college under a very well-versed professor and the depth of the religion/philosophy is something far too often overlooked. Bob Marley was a bullshit catch-all for Rastafarianism to millions of white teens in the US and UK who in turn minimized the culture to easy-going, weed-smoking hippy nonsense. The biggest example of this IMO is to look at the posthumous Bob Marley release Legend, the tracklist is scrubbed of almost anything overtly defiant/political in exchange for "One Love" and "Jamming," those are great songs but people listen to that shit and think that it represents Marley.

In any case, I don't know too much about Snoop's "conversion" but it does seem a bit superficial.

Definitely frontin' !! Pothead.... Yes , rasta ..... No!! I agree with Vamosarapiar that the whole Rasta culture has been belittled by people who think if you have dreads and get lifted to your favorite reggae joint ... oh and say jah in every other sentence , that you are a Rasta ( hope I didn't take that too far out of context homie ). I foresee him falling out of that act as quick as he fell into it . Maybe I'm wrong ??

I think it's a phase that he'll get past at some point...maybe an early, mid-life crisis...?? I know we all need to grow - personally (mentally and physically), professionally, socially, economically, etc.....but, i think he needs to do what he does the best - rap...and play gangsta-ass, bit parts in movies (when needed) - leave the reggae to real reggae artists, and stop frontin' with trying to be a Rastafarian.

As always it is about money, folks.
If it was about anything different, then the dollar sign would have nothing to do it.
When you take a stand on anything,it is because the stand means a great deal to you or a particular cause. The relevance is a matter of the changing of the perception of what you disagree with. Not for any gain of anything besides the public apology itself.

As for Snoop..
Stick to guest appearances on new school endeavors and maybe you can
collaborate with someone to put together a Deep Cover two video.
If in Rome, there's no premise that states you have to do what the Romans do.
