Got this recently...

The Custodian Of Records ‎– Burton Music Mixtape Cassette (Lost Records) 2013

^Super dope and exclusive to cassette mixtape from 2013 of a bunch of underground Hip Hop artists I've basically never heard of. Very cool throwback boom bap vibes on this.

I made a quick sneak peek video featuring a snippet of one of the better songs on the mix for ya ear holes...

^Funny thing, I initially thought maybe these guys were sampling Bruton Records (a library record company) because of their Burton logo on the tape. You'll see the two logos there. Instead it was just a logo "sampling" technique, and a nod to the design of Bruton Records.

I've been on a tape kick lately... You know what I mean by kick, a thing, a mini binge, relentlessly focused on, etc.

Anyways, I gotta spread a little bit of what I've learned along the way about some of the more noteworthy ones to the tape heads lurking in the forum.

TLDR: Oh look, a noteworthy tapes post.

Tony D - Beats From the Golden Era (Cha-Ching Records) 2016

^I'll start with the best for a change. For those who don't know this guy was a legendary producer of a lot of golden age Hip Hop. He was the producer behind Poor Righteous Teachers, YZ, Blaque Spurm and The Funk Family . He has also produced tracks for DJ Muggs, Young Zee, Outsidaz, Pace Won, King Sun and many more. He died tragically in a car wreck back in 2009.

Now in 2016 this cassette only release was dropped by Cha-Ching Records and it features some of the dopest throwback boom bap beats you can imagine. Some never heard before, others recognizable, all of them dope. If there was ever a reason to keep a working tape deck around this one right here would be that reason.

Peep the snippets here:

Pig Pen - Incredibly Illegal (Producers I Know) 2016

^I don't know much, but I know I love his beats. I'm very excited about this guy and what he's got next on deck. Out of the clear blue comes this beat tape by a next level new jack producer. His beats are solid from front to back on this tape. I can keep flipping this tape multiple plays in a row and not get bored along the way. I have no idea whatsoever where he got some of those samples but man he really made them work.

Häzel - The Lost Tapes (The Beat Down) 2012

^Bought this based on the reviews and a few snippets I heard online. Apparently this is one of UGHH.com's best selling instrumental beat tapes so I bought it. Very advanced production techniques from this beatsmith without straying from the basics of Hip Hop beats. BTW, You can download the Deluxe Edition digital version of this tape for free at his own website HERE

Wermonster - Katalyst Sessions Volume One (Uncomfortable Beats) 2014

^Really dope German beatsmith. His tape starts out with a sample from the movie Dances With Wolves and that grabbed my attention immediately. Really top notch beats on this from all the way thru. I bought the volume 2 in this series online not knowing it was actually part 1 only there were rappers finally utilizing these dope beats. Other than a few good rappers on that frankly it was a waste of otherwise good beats and it sounded better untouched by MC.

Knx - Anthology (Leaving Records) 2013

^A lot of people are catching on to this guy on this Stones Throw Offshoot label. This like all the ones above is strictly beats. 2 cassettes full of random but very nice beats. This was dropped on Cassette, CD, and LP in that order. I bought the cassette because it was advertised as "cassette only". Then boom the CD and the LP drops. Thanks Stones Throw for marketing it as tape only and then crossing off that sales pitch to drop it on LP and CD!

I'm not too mad about it. As a beat tape, like a lot of beat tapes I think it sounds better on tape. Big old chunky lo-fi Hip Hop tape beats sound good on tape. Like a lot of tapes and CDs I'd like the vinyl too but they are low priority since I already got em on tape.

Starvin B - Starvicide the Mixtape (Analog Burners) 2014

^Really dope mixtape by Starvin B. A side and most of the B-Side is beats and rhymes combined but there's a nice long stretch of killer beats untouched by an MC on the flip that makes this extra interesting.

Really great stuff Rchecka !!! I think the Knx is the only one I would have trouble listening to . The rest sound nice . I've tried listening to Knx before and had a hard time with it . Maybe I'm just not giving it the attention it needs . Pig Pen has the beard I've always wanted , but don't have the patience to get it that big .
