A few recent listens.


Main Source - Breaking Atoms lp . This is the Vinyl Me Please reissue . I copped it on eBay sealed for $25 , and don't regret it at all . The pressing , sound quality , and packaging are top notch . Plus it comes with a bonus 45 . This album is one of those classics that I always wanted , but when I found an OG copy that was affordable , it was usually beat to death . If anybody needs a quality pressing of this album , I recommend this pressing . My only gripe is the altered cover art !!!




Speaking of nice classic reissues that I should've owned before now ..


Beastie Boys - Licensed To Ill lp . This is the 30th anniversary reissue . My wife gave me a fat stack of wax for Father's Day and this was one of them . This is also a quality reissue !! It blows my mind to think that I never had this album on vinyl before now . My first copy of this album was a bootleg cassette that I bought at a back row booth at the farmers market as a kid . This was back in the very back where they sold throwing stars and stuff . I have since had CDs and digital for in the car and on the go listening , but can now say o have a vinyl copy . I'm trying to talk my brother-in-law out of his OG copy ( and all the other old school and golden era stuff he has but doesn't listen to ), but it never happens ..



This ones not a classic (yet) , but has the makings ...



(Various Artists ) Culture Power 45 - Fruition lp . Super dope indie hip hop compilation !! I am just discovering this label through this comp which I bought off the cover art and description on DGA , but will most definitely give it full attention from now on !! There are a few hip hop comps that I love all the way through , and this one just made that list . There is one track at the end of the a side that isn't hip hop , more r&b / neo soul , but it fits right in with the rest of the album . This one is a solid listen from front to back !! Definitely a great look for this label for sure ..



^^ This is the track I listened to while the record was in transit . It gave me a good feeling about the album and that feeling was on point..

That's probably the only VMP I would ever buy. I'm just not a fan of their sales model. Messing with the cover art was probably the deal with Main Source but I agree, why fuck with the classic cover?

That last joint VA - Culture Power 45 - Fruition LP you told me to get and I got it and hot damn I am glad I did. I got it yesterday and I just finished listening to it again for the 3rd time in a row. Rarely do I repeat listen that often but I am so far from tired of that comp. Most of the artists on that I've never even heard of and every single track is dope. I like the instrumentals they put in between, some real fire between those grooves.

^^ I knew you would dig that comp . I was in the same boat , didn't know anybody on there . Glad I took a chance . They definitely put together a top notch compilation !!

@Jaybrown, nice. I don't have any of those. I was hoping the Main Source would get a wider release but that doesn't seem to be happening. VMP is stepping up their game for sure. I don't think I would subscribe but there are a few exclusives they have that I'd like to get. One thing I don't like about them is that even though started opening the store to non-subscribers, they only offer media mail shipping. By the time the record gets to me in the warmer months from them via media it is guaranteed to be warped. I've held off for that reason. Maybe when it gets colder I will try a couple of their releases from the non-subscriber store.
