What up CDC . Sorry for the long hiatus . Life gets ahead of you sometimes and things you want to do fall on the back burner ...
So this is what I listened to over the last few days ..






So I went Billy Woods crazy !! It's funny because I remember Rchecka posting the History Will Absolve Me lp , and I listened to some of it without being impressed . But like everything else I don't like up front , I went back to it . I usually do this with albums I'm not impressed with , sometimes 3 or 4 times . Upon the second listen , I was blown away . So I gave some of his other albums a listen . Same feeling . This dude is note only dope , but original too . He kinda ( and I say this loosely ) reminds me of a hood version of Aesop Rock . I say this because he has a way of saying things that makes sense , but are in his own type of slang . He's not the illest wordsmith , but his delivery and way of saying things really set him apart from most emcees . The production is interesting too . Some beats complex , and some so stripped down and minimalist that I don't know how he managed to rock them , but he does flawlessly . History Will Absolve Me , Known Unknowns , and Today I Wrote Nothing are the three double lps I copped , and they are all three solid from start to finish . If I could get my hands on Dour Candy , my collection will be complete ( so far at least ) . My only complaint was that I ordered these record straight from the label ( Backwoodz Studios ) , and these dudes are not in any hurry to mail out anything . It took 3 weeks from the time ordered them for them to mail my order . But , now that I have these records , I'm happy and all the procrastination is forgiven ...

Some super chill hip hop instrumentals for me right now ..



Home Grown lp . Inner Ocean records and STEEZYASFUCK put this comp together , and they did a great job !! This is a very nice collection of chillout / downtempo hip hop instrumentals from basically bedroom producers . Definitely a sit back and chill to record and I recommend it if you are looking for something that fits that description . It is limited to 300 !!
