Recently, I picked up a few of these Hip hop sevens...

Alps Cru - Intensity 7" EP (F5 Records) 2015

^Alps Cru is one of those indie underground crews that have a few solid tracks. So solid in fact, some of their 12"s go for around $200 bones. So when I got the heads up that they were dropping this LE of 300 7" on F5 records, I let curiosity get the best of me and I jumped on this. Played it 2 times and that's enough for me to know I wasted my money on hype.

J.Rocc / Kutmah 777 (split) 7" (Hit + Run) 2013

^The always hyped J.Rocc is why I bought this split seven. Not to mention my whole Beat Junkies completionism problem I have pretty much makes this a must-have. Both sides to this interesting one-off seven are pretty good. I've watched J.Rocc really grow immensely as a producer over the years, he's more known for his work as a DJ, but singles like this make it obvious he really fell into his groove as a producer as well.

Tim Dog - Suckers Never Play Me / It's My Time 7" (Black Pegasus) 2015

^Bought this cuz, duh! it's a rare Tim Dog 7 that just got released. Too bad this label Black Pegasus has no clue how to drop a one-of-a-kind single that's only in their possession that sounds halfway decent.

It's just like their Paul C remix of an old Ultragmagnetic MCs 7" single they dropped a few years back. Sounds like it was pressed at the wrong speed. It's muffled, and it sounds tinny, like it was sourced from an mp3. Now I have this rare $30 7 inch that I'll never really be able to enjoy. Guess I can always resell it online to the next Tim Dog fan who missed out on this folly of a release.

Wow, you have been blowing through a lot of 45s lately !! I need to hurry up and unpack my records !!! Too bad on the Alps Cru and Tim Dog bombs . I don't know Alps Cru , but can't believe that someone would bother to reissue the Tim Dog joint , charge that price , and let it sound that bad . That's kinda how I felt when I got that UGK Ridin Dirty joint . I'm still wondering if it was just the first limited edition run of it or if they all sound dissapointing . .
