rchecka - Drowning Poets (mixtape)

^I think even non-country fans will find this old scratchy country and rockabilly mixtape I just made is a fantastic blast from the past. It's good ol' wholesome fun for the whole family. That's right folks, even your grandparents and kids are gonna dig this old "dead country" sound and find it refreshing. I hope this graces your holiday playlists.

As always any feedback positive or negative is welcome here!

Enjoy!

Bumped it and loved it !! I would never consider myself a country fan , but have found some country I didn't mind lately . I have been bumping the Country Funk comps and the Country Soul Sisters joint , and now this mix . Dude your track selection is great . Still maybe not for everybody , but I say give it a full listen before dismissing it . I really liked the blending of styles in these country and rockabilly tracks . You can here blues , jazz , and funk hidden in this one . Great listen ...

Damn Rchecka , it looks like you're not getting any love here . I figured atleast DJ Boombap would try this mix out ( not trying to call you out BoomBap , you just post some similar stuff and you started the funky country thread ) . I gave this another listen yesterday , and stand by my original comment .

^Hey man, much appreciated. Coming from you, a resident of the mecca Nashville, that truly means a lot. thumbs up

I know you aint a country music guy, either am I, but we both dig good music so I knew you'd dig it.

This is a country\rockabilly mix so I figured it wouldn't blow up quickly here.

It's almost Christmas eve, so people are doing family stuff, last minute Christmas shopping and such so I understand completely.

Most importantly I want to congratulate you on your good news JB, I'll leave it there and if you want to expand upon that you can.smileys with beer

2 more days till Xmas and counting...

Dude, Its hard to wrap my head around this mix knowing all of the ones that have come from you. And that's a good thing by the way. I love old country, and I detest modern mainstream country. It truly makes me want to end it all. Why cant terrorists target the country music video awards? I know that sounds terrible but I just really hate that crap. Any way dude, Jaybrown is right on with the fact that it blends more than whats suggested in your description. It's old roots of what good music is. That song from benji really cracks me up. I imagine a movie montage of the good friends helping the protagonist paint an old barn like new when I hear it. And I laugh every time. The Hank Williams song at the end is priceless as well, more of a story than a song. By the way, what a truly colossal let down his son Hank Jr must have been to Hank Sr. Seriously that fox news, Monday night football, Obama hater needs to walk into traffic.Anyway I've played it several times, and it's truly and instant classic.
