Black Sabbath to release vinyl box set
Lavish set covers Sabbath's Ozzy years

With a very, very big 2013 ahead for the Bill Ward-less Black Sabbath – including that much talked-about new album and the subsequent world tour – the band is getting into the promotional swing of things that will have Sabbath fans worldwide drooling. The Vinyl Collection: 1970-1978 (Universal) is exactly what it says, a gigantic vinyl box set focusing on the classic Ozzy years, as well as a few other very nice bells and whistles:

• Eight original albums - Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality (with poster), Volume 4 (with photo insert book), Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Technical Ecstasy, Never Say Die, Live at Last) – “remastered from the band's personal archives”, on 180-gram vinyl.

• A reproduction of the band's debut 7” single "Evil Woman", and its non-album B-side "Wicked World".

• A hardcover book featuring original tour programs from 1970, 1975, 1976 and 1978.

• A special 12×12 print of the box set design (limited to 50 prints only).

• A full digital download (of course).

Typically, the majority of us Sabbath fans will say, “We’ve got all the albums, we don’t need this.” But I guarantee every single one of us would go absolutely nuts if we received it this holiday season. At £180.00, or approximately $286, the price is steep, but if you can swing it, this is as tantalizing a gift for a metalhead as you’ll find.

Black Sabbath’s The Vinyl Collection: 1970-1978 will be released December 12 (12/12/12, get it? Twice as evil as 6/6/6?), and can be pre-ordered

That's some big time stuff right there, but I didn't catch alot of Sabbath in the day.
I was more in the Blue Oyster Cult and Zeppelin camp.

I remember their hits from the school days, from random passing-by the Stoners groups who would be listening to them...but that was the extent of my listening/hearing Sabbath. I was more of a Van Halen guy (DLR era), when it came to rock.

I went back about 6 -7 years ago to revisit Sabbath and thier collection (during the Ozzy years...not during the Ronnie James Dio years, afterwards)..their sound - and MAN - i missed out really appreaciting and getting into their catalouge earlier. The rank up there, for me, as the one of the greatest hard rock/metal bands. Each person in the group mastered their instrument...for real.

Although I have all of the (Ozzy year) Sabbath albums now - all on CD and most on Vinyl (for the sake of getting them on vinyl), i definitely think this is a good package for those who dont have any. The only Ronnie James Dio (R.I.P.) -era, Sabbath album i have is, 'Mob Rules'

I'm definitely gonna have to sample some more Sabbath.
My older brother loved metal and classic rock, well before it was called classic.
In the projects the girls shared a big room and the boys had thier room,
So you had to listen to whatever each other was playing.
He played alot of Thin Lizzy, of course Cult...Hendrix and Zeppelin.
So much so that I thought Kashmere was my middle name.
