I've got almost their entire catalog on CD. The only things I'm missing are some live albums and re-recorded stuff which I'm not too interested in. I need to re-buy the Devoto stuff as well, but everything else I have. The only thing I have on vinyl is Love Bites, found a NM first pressing at a local store a few months back for a reasonable price, rarely see stuff like that where I'm at.

If you don't have anything at all, I'd recommend getting Singles Going Steady. Their original run from '77-80 is pretty much flawless IMHO. All classic stuff. The later albums after they got back together in the late 80s/early 90s are very underrated. After I saw them live last year I went back and bought all that stuff. Not all of the later albums albums are 100% consistent but even the weaker ones (i.e. Modern, or the latest one - The Way) have several gems in them.

Scanner is one of those artists that totally passed me by for some reason. Pretty much the only stuff I've ever had by him was various remixes here and there, but never any of his albums. The only full album I've heard by him was one a friend lent me (don't remember) many years ago and it didn't leave much of an impression. I'm guessing it wasn't his best work.

Can't remember if I posted a link to this before, but here is a list I made of some of my favorite ambient/noise/experimental type albums:

These two remixes by Scanner are basically ambient drone electronic music. Scanner is one of those enigmatic figures with a dark style of producing, turning repetitive noise into beats. This is miles ahead of the other electronic ambient styles back in the late 90s. This kind of thing would go well on Kep's I l<3 noise mixes.

Chameleons - What Does Anything Mean Basically CD

The band's second album and my introduction to them years ago. Compared to the first album, some of these songs have a lighter mood to them, but we're still talking about guitar-driven post-punk here. Lots of digital delay and various effects, supposedly had a big influence on the later shoegazing scene. I do think the production on this album sounds a bit dated now, but it's nothing I can't handle. If you want to hear arguably better (i.e. rawer) versions of these songs, check out their Peel Sessions/Radio Sessions albums. Their first 7'' single is included as a bonus, listen to "In Shreds" and tell me Interpol didn't rip that off.
