Disfear - Everyday Slaughter



During the 90s there were a bunch of bands from Scandanavia that took the blueprint of Anti-Cimex (i.e. Discharge-inspired hardcore, but faster and heavier) and made it even more extreme. This was one of those bands, along with other great groups like Wolfpack, Meanwhile, Valvontakomissio, Fleshrevels, Driller Killer, etc.

This album has that Sunlight Studios production that a lot of Swedish death metal had around the time as well. After this album, the band would change their lineup and release more heavy metal sounding records on Relapse. I think this is their best work though, and it's a shame it's out of print. Their debut full length, Soul Scars, is also very good but even harder to find. I think I tracked down a copy a couple years ago...was really excited to find it.

Donnacha Costello - Love from Dust



Recent album from this Irish electronic artist that's been kicking around since the late 90s. You may know him from the stuff he did on Mille Plateaux years ago or his Colorseries techno 12''s. This album definitely is more on the ambient side, similar to those old Mille CDs but different. There aren't too many artist these days occupying this sort of microsound ambient sphere that really interest me, but Costello is still making strong music. Only available digitally at the moment, check out his Drip.FM subscription page as well as his Bandcamp site. Sometimes he will just end up giving away albums as "name your price" downloads, otherwise they are reasonably priced. I got most of his catalog through a subscription to his Drip.FM channel awhile back, I think it was something like $30 a year for a ton of music, plus everything new he puts out for that year.

Spectres - Nothing to Nowhere



More retro post-punk, done right though. Listened to this album late last night, definitely fits the late night/early morning mood. A huge improvement on their debut.
