A buddy of mine bought a whole pile of kids records from a garage sale just cuz he knew I wanted Sesame Street records. When you get kids records, a lot of them end up looking like this...

^This must have sat on the bottom of a pile in the basement for years because it's water damaged, dirty as hell, and clearly played by the delicate hands of children.

Still, they are GOLDMINES for SAMPLES like you wouldn't even believe. The value of these things is all over the map, but I have enough kids records to create well over 20 Hip Hop beat albums, all with samples harvested from kids records that were produced by producers that will be highly unlikely to claim royalties (if you know what I'm getting at).

Kids records are so cool, not to listen to all the way thru, but to use as GREAT SCRATCH TOOLS. They are usually already destroyed so there is almost no guilt when going to town on the ones and twos experimenting with scratch sounds.

They have THE COOLEST COVERS and often comics or inserts or games or whatever would keep a kid occupied for 60 minutes. There is a throwback vibe I get from just looking at em.

Even kids records that you would expect to be horribly wack (like the "Further Adventrues of Wizard of Oz" pictured above) have great sound effects and hilarious MIXTAPE INTERLUDES just waiting to be tapped.

Now that I have even more kids records, I'm realizing I am going to have to do something with them and put them to good use on some OG productions.

I'll post some more pics later, PLEASE ADD YOUR PICS to this thread if you got em! Let's fill this up with pics of kids records for the cratediggers looking to tap into those kids sounds or just reminisce.

RChecka, cool thread. I used to buy every kids record I could find when I bought records. I had several hundred, and probably every Disney record in print.

11 years ago I borrowed my cousins copy of Joe Wise - Pockets.

The record had a very cool book inside that he LOVED. and wanted to share with his kids. Long story short I lost it, but bought him the MP3 album. He never let it go and brought it up every time I saw him. I have looked 2 or 3 times a year for the past 10 years for the vinyl, but could never find it. 2 months ago he made a Facebook post reminiscing about his childhood and that record. I looked one last time and finally found that bitch, with the book! It felt so good........especially cause it only cost me $8 shipped. Had it sent to his house secretly and he called me up so excited, he doesn't have a record player, he just wanted that book from this cool ass kids record.

Anyway, I'm a huge fan of kids records.

^Great story. I felt the same way when I rediscovered some of the kids records that I had years later. It's so fun to find something and get that nostalgia vibe that is utterly priceless.

I got some more pics coming of Non-Sesame-Street Records, but for now this is ready for your throwback viewing pleasure.
