Behemoth - Ezkaton

The award goes to Behemoth for the most awkwardly packaged EP I have ever owned. This thing comes in a box with four 7" picture discs and a CD as well as a pendant with the Behemoth symbol on it. The CD has seven songs on it, and the records have the same songs plus a cover of the Misfits "Devilock". It's pretty neat to look at, but I mostly just listen to the CD instead of bothering with the records when I want to actually hear it.

Strange package indeed. It's a good thing they included the CD too. Picture discs are for looking at, not listening to IMHO. What's your take on this band in general? I know they went through an early lo-fi black metal phase but later ended up doing more "professional" sounding death metal that's gotten a ton of critical acclaim. I almost picked up their last album out of sheer curiosity a couple times.

What's your take on this band in general? I know they went through an early lo-fi black metal phase but later ended up doing more "professional" sounding death metal that's gotten a ton of critical acclaim. I almost picked up their last album out of sheer curiosity a couple times.

I really like these guys. While I can still get into their early stuff, I think they've gotten better over time. The Satanist was a very good album. Great riffs, decent vocals, and some killer drums. My personal favorite is probably Demigod, but really each of the albums they have put out over the past 13-14 years have been excellent and well worth checking out. I've seen them play about half a dozen different times since '99 or so, and they never fail to put on an phenomenal show.

Yeah, I'd imagine live is where they really shine.

Karthago — I Give You Everything You Want / Why Don't You Stop Buggin' Me 7" (Fraternity Music Group) 2016



^First time issue of this 1979 Kraut Rock / Psych Funk band's tracks "I Give You Everything You Want" and "Why Don't You Stop Buggin Me" on the 7" 45 from the good people at Fraternity Music Group who is now the oldest independent label still active in the United States. It used to be simply Fraternity Records until it merged with Undercover Brother records. Anyways, those two sister labels are keeping the funk joints alive, never hesitate to buy their reissues or unearthed old school first time issues or their new bands.
