^^ Agreed , but I like the medieval direction that Blackbird Raum goes . Which is weird since I’ve never liked that style of music , but the punk rick edge they have take it into another dimension .

Lately I've been on a big time 45 kick / 7" buying spree...

Trailer Limon - Love Don't Pay the Bills 7" (Austin Boogie Crew Records) 2017

^Slowly but surely I am going to buy everything from this label ABC. They have a strangle hold on the modern boogie scene and everything they drop lately has been smart unpretentious 80s funk.

Blundetto - Nautilus 7" (Heavenly Sweetness) 2010

^This is a reggae cover of Bob James song Nautilus. It is as good as you hope it would be. Pure class, not at all disappointing given the strength of Bob's original song.

Courtney Pine featuring Omar - Butterfly 7" (Freestyle Records) 2017

^I've been a fan of Omar a long minute so I took a chance on this nice 7" featuring Courtney Pine on sax. Courtney, what an unfortunate first name for a man. I'll bet he got picked on a lot for that name as a kid. Way to think about the well being of your kid Courtney's dumbass parents! It's ok though, apparently he got along just fine because look at his smiling face on this 7". Way to overcome a dumb ass name dude. I would still consider changing it though.

(Mr Bongo Records)

^Various Mr. Bongo Brazilian funk 45s that would not exist in my corner of the world if it were not for unearthers at Mr. Bongo.

Karthago - I Give You Everything You Want 7" (Fraternity Music Group) 2016

^Cool obscure funky kraut rock properly reissued by the new owner of Fraternity Music Group Records, Kenny Dope.

(continued)

Little Willie John - It Only Hurts A Little While 7" (Jukebox Jam Series) 2013

^Little Willie John is a veteran off James Brown and affiliates (King Records) fame. Bought this based on the audio clip I heard online so rather than trying to sell it with words I'll let it speak for itself...

Lucky Brown - Don't Go Away 7" (Tramp Records) 2008

^The lo-fi recording of this lost and found funk record does not detract from the massively funky soul on this great 7" from Germany's Tramp Records.

Luther Allison - You Can't Always Get What You Want 7" (Ruf Records) 2017

^Bought this legendary blues guitarist's cover of the Rolling Stones for that song and stayed for the B side too.

Pawn Shop Soul Orchestra - Grab This Thing 7" (Lugnut Brand Records) 2017

^Arguably one of the best 45s I have bought in years. Uber funky instrumental funk out of Chicago. Check out this slow chugging ass shaking blues brothers style funk piece...

Phenomenal Handclap Band - Stepped Into the Light 7" (Magnifreeq Records) 2017

^Pretty hard to put this amazing single into any kind of genre box. Reminds me of disco, soul, and modern breaks all nicely tied together. A band that is worthy of their clever name.

Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics - My Dear 7" (Element Records) 2012

^Gorgeous soul diva, and her voice is pretty good too! grinning smiley It's about time I copped the 45 of this even though I have the album already courtesy of a nice gift from JB! Well worth it for the nice chunky drums the 45 brings to the front.
