The original What NON Hip Hop Are You Listening To Right Now thread was getting huge and unruly, so it is closed and will be archived as well.

With a new design and new features being added here it's a good time to start fresh...

So just like before, it's a simple question...

What NON Hip Hop Are You Listening To Right Now?

NOTE: These points are not required but certainly recommended:
  • Post Pictures (PLEASE don't put more than 5 pictures per post to keep page load time down) You can post as many times in a row as you want but 5 pictures max per post.
  • Post Videos (Again no more than 5 per post for faster load times)
  • Include basic info especially if that information is not obvious from the picture. Example: Artist - Title Format
  • Talk about it! Say something, say anything. Remember, we aim to build and discuss.

Giddy-up! (@M@)

Right now...

How To Destroy Angels ‎– Welcome Oblivion LP (Columbia) 2013

^Trent Reznor of NIN drops beats on this completely out of character on this side project, "How To Destroy Angels". Yeah, it's still clearly Reznor behind the boards but he's not ridden with angst on this. The production is still dark but the light in that darkness is his gorgeous lead singer-wife Mariqueen Maandig-Reznor. Together they make sweet music in the indescribably thick sounds laid down by Trent and company.

No point in describing the indescribable, good ol' Youtube...

^That voice...in love

...anyways, I bought this 2LP when it dropped a few years ago and completely forgot about it. The quality of the pressing and sound and given how interesting this music is makes me wonder why I swept it under the rug for so long.

I really haven't followed any of Reznor's stuff since the mid-90s. Listened to Nine Inch Nails a lot when I was younger. I read about this project awhile back but never heard any of it. You may know this, but the band's name was taken from Coil's first 12'' EP.

^Didn't know that actually, good info.

I think I have a few Coil productions on CD somewhere, but I think they are remixes. Hmmm

^^Actually I just remembered at least something... Here's one remix Coil did off of THIS...

Scorn ‎– Ellipsis CD (Scorn Recordings) 1995

^I bought that specifically for the Meat Beat Manifesto remix but I love every remix on that including the Scanner remix, and the Autechre remix and even Bill Laswell does a version on that.

Side thought: @ Scorn, that's an impressive roster of guys lining up to remix your shit.
