Galaxy 2 Galaxy - A Hitech Jazz Compilation

Double CD collection of 90s and 2000s Underground Resistance tracks under the Galaxy 2 Galaxy banner. Definitely has a jazz influence, sorta like smooth 70s jazz type stuff. When I got this years ago I wasn't too keen on it but it has grown on me in a big way. This is a pretty interesting, different take on the Detroit Techno sound that's worth checking out.

Isolee - Well Spent Youth 2xLP

Found this as a sale item in a local store recently, which was surprising seeing how this particular store is not really the place for dance music, much less something like this. Isolee, despite the French sounding name, is a the pseudonym of Rajko Muller, a German house music producer. This is his most recent album, released in 2011.

This isn't your typical house music at all, it's more like the kind of "left field" stuff that cutting edge labels and producers were doing back in the late 90s and very early 2000s. Labels like Kompakt, Perlon, Force Tracks, Playhouse etc. and artists like Matthew Herbert. At any rate, I used to listen to a lot of this type of stuff but the creativity and inspiration started to leave the scene (everything got slick or gimmicky IMHO) around 2003/2004 and I stopped following new releases.

This is why I'm surprised at how good this is. I'm not sure if it quite tops Isolee's previous work but it's very good. This makes me want to go back and check out all the releases from Isolee that I missed. I also need to re-buy "Rest". That was a really good album I've not heard in years.

Khan - I Don't Wanna Say Anything LP (Harvest) 1996

^WAY ahead of it's time slightly minimal heavy on the acid 808s German techno. Not a lot of techno albums I can listen to all the way thru without picking up the needle and this one is one of the earliest underground techno albums I have with that distinction.

Nautilis ‎– Are You An Axolotl LP (Planet Mu) 2002

^What a fantastic album. Like the one above, way ahead of it's time and its another album where you feel no need to pick up the needle on any song. I could have put this in about 5 other genre specific threads but I think at the heart of it all this is a techno and glitch album. But there's a guest MC on a glitch hop track (who doesn't suck surprisingly like a lot of guest MCs tend to do on Techno one off songs) there's also elements of downtempo, electronic jazz, trip hop, you name it. It's really something to make a diverse sounding album that is cohesive and this guy who I never really heard of until recently nailed it.

Check out the downtempo vibes on this track...

^Again that doesn't represent the entire album, it's just one hint of things to come in the overall album.

Razormaid Chapter Six: Promotion

rchecka has shown me light! I can't thank him enough for turning me on to the cool DJ comps. This is the first one I've had the chance to clean up and listen to all the way through. This thing is just packed with great dance remixes. Even my wife digs this, and normally she hates any music I listen to.

A couple of the tracks from this are below.

Phil Collins - Sussudio Remix

Propaganda - Dr. Mabuse Remix

I'll definitely be posting more of these as I get around to cleaning the ones I've gotten so far.
