Theo Parrish - American Intelligence 2xCD



So this album has been out for awhile both on CD and LP. Caveat Emptor - even though the LP is a 3x12'' it does not contain all the tracks. If you are a fan and have to have it on vinyl, you really need to get both formats because the CD has over twice as many tracks IIRC. There are some contemporaneous 12'' singles as well, not sure where/if those overlap offhand.

Anyway, if you're not familiar with Theo he's a house producer and DJ from Detroit that in the past was heavily influenced by old funk, soul, and even disco records. I believe his earliest material (which I also enjoy) was made up of looped samples from old records, and gradually his production style shifted to what we have here today. Hard to describe, so I'll just say check it out. I have a feeling his music would appeal to a lot of hip hop fans if they gave it a shot.

Photek - Form and Function . Always liked this cat's drum n bass albums . I need to cop Modus Operandi. It is a great album too ..

^Big fan of Photek. I liked his D&B phase and I liked it when he threw everyone a curve ball and dropped a house album 15 years ago. I can't believe that album is already 15 years old, man I'm old.
