Brian Eno - The Ship - LP

The newest album from Brian Eno has arrived, and it's a goddamned masterpiece.

One of my favorite records of all time is After The Heat, which is one of Eno's collaborative efforts with Cluster, and the first time I listened to The Ship, it was that album that came to mind. It's not necessarily that the songs are similar because they aren't, but the overall feel of the music is in that same neighborhood.

Like being suspended in an isolation tank, this music can carry you away to some rather surprising places.

Also, apologies for my crappy photos. I have a new camera I'll be trying out soon. Hopefully with better results than this.

Your description sounds awesome. I don't have any Eno after '86 or so. Definitely way to check this out now.

PBK - Profusion - Cassette

Discogs Page

If you haven't guessed, I'm a big fan of this artist and own several of his releases. This tape, from 1991, is a compilation of reworked tracks originally recorded from '87-90 and is one of more immediately accessible releases I've heard from PBK. If you like the type of experimental ambient that is really the intersection of ambient and industrial noise soundscapes, PBK is one of the best at it IMHO. Not sure how hard it is to track down at this point but maybe it will eventually be reissued (some of PBK early work has been).

EORÐESLAJYR - HÄXAN
Black Mass, 2016

Over 50 minutes of black metal/ambient/noise/drone used as the soundtrack for a new edit of the 1922 silent film HÄXAN, directed by Benjamin Christensen. This is excellent, creepy stuff right here. The clip below has footage taken from the movie set to one of the 10 tracks on this album. I'll put a link to the Bandcamp page below in case anyone is interested in the full album from this Irish outfit, whose name is apparently pronounced as "earth slayer". I can't wait to hear more from these guys in the future.

Brian Eno - Reflection
Warp Records, 2017

Excellent ambient album from Eno. A return to some of his minimalist leanings, this is a beautiful piece of work. Four tracks, one on each side of the LP, each quiet and reflective, appropriate for deep listening.

There don't appear to be any links to actual tracks for this anywhere that I cold find, but it's worth searching out a copy to hear on your own. Pressed to be played at 45 RPM, it reveals new dimensions when played at 33 as well. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I did it by accident at first and was surprised by the result.
