^Nice one. I will never be able to keep up with Eno. He's still dropping fire.

Atrox Pestis - S/T Tape

Atrox Pestis is the ambient-leaning side-project of Gnawed. Instead of death industrial with a touch of power electronics, this shows a more atmospheric side to Richardson's work.

Make no mistake though, this is pretty bleak stuff. The sound is very reminiscent of many industrial ambient projects of the 80s and 90s - basically a lot more organic and subtly textured than the typical software generated stuff out there today.

Although I wouldn't say this is as refined as where Gnawed is at this point, it's a very good debut that shows a lot of promise for this project.

I picked that tape up recently. Not bad at all. I just got into Gnawed over the past few months, so I'm still catching up on them. As a whole, the Maniacal Hatred label puts out some pretty interesting stuff.

Yeah, Gnawed has been consistently strong since the "Feign and Cloak" CD on Malignant. That's what lead me to his MH label. Other than the Of Earth and Sun release, all the MH stuff I've bought has been Gnawed related so far. A label to keep an eye on for sure.

Fripp & Eno - No Pussyfooting LP (Editions EG) 1979

^I'd call this record a meeting of the minds. King Crimson's Robert Fripp meets the king of ambient music Brian Eno and just the right amount of each artist's sound is captured and married perfectly.

For those starting from scratch on Brian Eno albums looking to learn more about his Ambient works this is a great starting point. It's more palatable and guitar defined, complete with mellow pedal distortion and drawn out frippertones. This is significantly more rock sounding than any of Eno's softer Ambient numbered works.
