GAS - Narkopop

New album from Wolfgang Voigt's GAS project out today, the first since 2000's Pop album. So far this is sounding great, definitely more in the vein of Zauberberg or Konigsforst than the lighter textures of Pop. It does sound a tad more accessible than those earlier albums though. Like the old stuff, this isn't pure ambient, as there are the trademark repetitive beats on the album.

Limited edition art book + LP is already sold out, but I'm guessing more will be pressed. CD is available through many major outlets, while Bandcamp has FLAC.

Excellent dark ambient/drone from Russia.

This edition came in a handmade wooden box with glow in the dark paint, and included a Mjölnir (Thor's hammer) pendant along with four handmade cards with photos, poetry, and credits on them. The CD is also hand painted. This edition is sold out, but regular digipaks are still available through the label.

That looks cool. The packaging makes me think of old Zoviet France stuff or some of the things on the defunct Manifold label and Glass Throat (still active). Limited editions and special packaging used to go hand in hand with this type of music, not sure how prevalent it is anymore. This artist has popped up in my Bandcamp feed a couple of times, should check out his stuff more fully.
