Lou Miami & The Kozmetix - Lou Miami & The Kozmetix

1982 - Modern Method Records, US

I was tempted to file this under glam, because Lou Miami's attitude was definitely in that vein, but the music on the EP's 80's new wave pogo with a little proto-goth thrown in.

Bonus 45:

Lou Miami & The Kozmetiz - Fascist Lover / To Sir With Love

1982 - Final Vinyl Records, US

I'm not sure if this actually made it on the air, but it was recorded in the studio of a Boston UHF TV station. I really hope it hit the airwaves and shocked a few townies.

^Hard to believe that the label responsible for "This is Boston Not L.A." put out that. Definitely quirky stuff for sure. Sorta reminds me of some of the weirder Dangerhouse type stuff.

Grauzone - Self-Titled LP

Neue Deutsche Welle is what this is usually described as. There was a huge revival of this stuff several years back, but I never really ended up getting into it despite liking some of the stuff I'd heard. Just never got around to buying it, I guess. This LP is probably one of the easier to find (at least in the U.S.) and more popular NDW records out there, and it's very good. Hard to describe, so just take a listen. If you like post-punk or minimal synth type stuff you will probably find something to enjoy on this record.

Fra Lippo Lippi - In Silence LP

Bass-heavy, fairly minimalist and murky post-punk from Norway. Vocals are pushed to the back of the mix and the band goes more for atmosphere than songs, but it works.
