Ride - Weather Diaries

Continuing the trend of 90s acts reuniting and doing new albums, here is the latest from Ride. My expectations were pretty high considering how great they were when I saw them on their last U.S. tour. I also think this album provided an opportunity for them to right the mistakes they made on their final two albums. On my first listen, I will say that I'm very pleased. The sound definitely leans more toward Going Blank Again rather than the maligned Tarantula. A couple songs are more stripped down and less dreamy sounding than much of the band's classic period, but it works. Although the band released a few singles prior to the unveiling of this album, I waited to hear the whole thing, and I think it works best as a whole piece. Due to the cost and some reports of bad pressings, I just went for the CD version on this one.

Moby - Everything Is Wrong
original release by Mute, 1995 - this pressing by Mute/BMG, 2016

This is a pretty much essential album from the 90s. Moby delivers a bit of everything from dancehall electronica to some beautifully crafted ambient pieces.

This version was pressed at Optimal Media GmbH. The sound quality is absolutely mindblowing and made me remember why I fell in love with this album in the first place.
