This thread is for any 60s and 70s music that doesn't fit elsewhere. Psychedelic pop music, Girl Groups, Folk, or anything that might fit under a general "Classic Rock" type header. Posts about popular or less popular/obscure groups are welcome here.

The Kinks - The Kink Kontroversy LP

The Kinks are one of my favorite 60s groups. This, their third album is where things started to really take off for the band IMHO (though I do love the previous LP and their early singles). They were still basically a mod-rock group at this point but were incorporating more diversity in the songwriting and you could see where things would sort of head with the next four LPs.

This it the most recent U.S. pressing on Sanctuary/Ingrooves, mastered by Kevin Gray from analogue tapes and pressed at United. Note the black sticker. The EU versions usually have red stickers and are not all-analogue. Just a note for the analogue purists. Despite being pressed at United, my copies are fine. Word is most of the pressing run was fine as well.

Word is more U.S. Kinks reissues are coming. If they continue the excellent job that Gray did with the first four albums they will probably turn out great.

Nick Drake - Pink Moon LP Box Set

Not gonna talk about the music too much here because I'm sure most people have heard this by now.

What makes this particular edition special is the work that went into it and the overall presentation for such a special album. Normally I would never have something like this because it's too expensive but I got lucky and found a deal where it was priced lower than what you'd even pay for a bog standard reissue copy. Guess someone had too many in a warehouse and needed to clear out stock.

This edition is packaged as a box set with a large poster, a cardboard cutout of the master tape reel with detailed mastering notes, and some facsimiles of handwritten lyric sheets from Drake. The LP itself is in a nice gatefold jacket and was pressed at Optimal in Germany. All analogue cut too and it sounds great.
