Hollywood Brats - Hollywood Brats LP (Cherry Red Records) 1980

This one is one of my favorite rock records in my entire rock shelf. In a way this could go under post punk too but like the New York Dolls, their outward persona is glam rockers.

From the first track to the last you never need to pick up the needle. And it hops around a little in it's moods and styles but it never loses it's overall energy.

Sometimes an artist can take you on a genre-hopping journey where it seems like from track to track they lose themselves a little bit. This one has that kind of style variety yet it's always cohesive and authentic sounding, it's not a stretch.

I don't want to post a bunch of Youtube clips from this because it's so good as a whole so I'm gonna miss a few great tracks.

Here's just one good song "Sick On You"

^I don't have that record, but as you may know, that band morphed into the Boys, which were a little less glammy and more like poppy punk/power pop band. That song you posted appears on their first album. I think their first 3 records are all must haves. Some of their stuff has been reissued in recent years by TAANG! and Captain Oi! Alternative Chartbusters is probably my favorite of the bunch.

Check out this song:

Dave Edmunds - Repeat When Necessary LP

I guess this is power pop, but very stylistically diverse. I'm putting it here anyway. There are some more traditionally power-poppy sounding tracks, some 70s Pub Rock, and even a few rockabilly and country flavored numbers. On a basic level, it's all just great rock 'n roll I guess.
