We all are guilty of being critical fans of fill in the blank (insert any name) and as a fan we often think that band has albums not up to their full potential.

This thread is dedicated to good artists that did that experimental album you loathe, or that digression from their otherwise proven style that doesn't seem to fit their personality. Or the same old technique albums that just sound like the last album with no noticeable growth. For whatever reason, we have our own personal "Great Artists" list and most of them have a "WTF were they thinking?" album

This thread is all about the Worst albums from your favorite artists.

Do a critical review of such an album by such a band.

Spell it out for us, who and why did you decide on your selections. Discussions and debate encouraged.

TLDR: Name an artist you love and their disappointing (to you) albums and why.

An interesting topic sure to dredge up some controversy!

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark ‎– Junk Culture

Here is my pick, the first thing I could think of off the top of my head. After four classic albums of synthpop with post-punk and experimental touches culminating in the group's masterwork - Dazzle Ships - they released this crap. Totally awful, super slick synthpop devoid of soul. If the production were a bit more involving and textured, it might be a lot better, but I'm not even sure that would save it. I recall hearing this record many years ago at friend's place. I had just purchased the album and didn't like it, and he wanted to play his copy to see what he thought. After getting halfway through the second song he exclaimed "Horrid!", took the record off his turntable and flung it across the room. I know there are some people that like this but I am not one of them.
