First post on the site, thought I'd pick something I've been listening to for most of my life, and one of my all-time favorites! This is the second album (October File) from the Milwaukee band die kreuzen. Their first S/t album was straight up hardcore and also a fantastic album in it's own right. October File still has traces of hardcore, but many new sounds are creeping in. The main thing that has changed on this record is the tempo, songs mostly take a slower pace with much more elaborate riffs. I hear some Killing Joke and doomy metal on many tracks, and even a slight industrial noise influence on some of the intros. The album was released on Touch and Go records in 1986 and was self produced. Anyone into post hardcore sounds would dig this!

^October File is a weird one. I have it on CD but haven't pulled it out in some time. I'm a big fan of the debut EP and LP, like everyone else of course.

Nice! Welcome aboard Ketch! I have that record. Haven't played it in a long time either. Gonna have to pull that out again. Thanks for joining!

Oscar Peterson Trio/Gerry Mulligan Quartet - At Newport LP

I guess this is proof that split LPs aren't just for hardcore and punk bands. I'm not too well versed in Mulligan, but I'd guess this isn't anywhere near his best material, as the Peterson side just smokes it. It would be nice to have the full set instead of just the abbreviated version on this LP. I'm sure that's been reissued on CD at some point.
