Today ..

Ibeyi - self titled lp. I have really been digging this album lately , finally copped it today . This is two French / cuban twins . The beats are minimalist downtempo with beautiful pianos and tight percussion . The lyrics half English half Yoruban . Definitely different , but a great listen all around . It doesn't hurt that their dad was the late Miguel Anga Diaz ( Latin percussionist ) . You get every kind of feel on this album from jazzy , to soulful , to almost tribal touches .
This is the track that caught my attention..




I also copped this for my daughter , but oddly enough , really enjoyed it

Rockabye Baby Lullaby Renditions of Creedence Clearwater Revival lp . This is exactly what it says . Softer child friendly instrumental versions of CCR tracks . Believe it or not , I found this really relaxing to listen to . My daughter seemed to enjoy it , but I think she liked Ibeyi better

^I don't know what to think of those Rock a Bye covers. I don't hate them or anything, and I guess they are cool for babies and stuff, but they did one for Jay-z for cripes sake and that's weird.

CCR on the otherhand, Susie Q on the other hand, now that ROCKS!

Sun City Girls - Torch of the Mystics LP



I picked this up based on reputation, not totally knowing what I was in for. I guess this falls into the "avant rock" category. At times it's fairly accessible in a VU/early Can sort of way...at other times it gets a bit more rhythmic and weird, with some strange, incomprehensible vocals. Worth checking out if you're up for something different.

Right Now ..

Goat - World Music lp . I said the other day when I posted the Goat 45 that I needed to cop this album . I made it my mission to do so . I'm so glad I did . Although this is another genre clashing recording . Meaning that I hear everything from psych to Afro funk to rock etc .. But it all comes together seamlessly .



My only complaint ( and it's not really a complaint) is that I wish the album was longer ...
