Some downtempo for me this morning ..

Zero 7 - Simple Things 2lp . A nice relaxing album for Sunday morning . I never could find an OG copy of this , but was happy to come across this recent reissue . It sounds great and was pressed up on heavy vinyl . My only complaint / wish is that it should've come in a gatefold packaging ( just my two cents ).

McCoy Tyner - Fly With the Wind LP

Here is an interesting one. Most people know Tyner for his work with Coltrane or his solo albums from the 60s. This album, from '76 on the Milestone label, is nothing like any of that. There is some fusion, some big string arrangements, even some experimental/out there sections, but it's pretty accessible overall. You can probably grab this one pretty cheap too.

Johnny Jenkins - Ton-Ton Macoute!

Been awhile - hope you all are doing ok and enjoying the summer!

This is one you'll have to pry from my cold, dead digits - great southern-soul-funk-rock laid down by Duane Allman, Dicky Betts and the Swampers, among others..

Like so much 70's jazz by the post-bop survivors, an overlooked, excellent album - thanks for putting it up! Just dropped a needle on my copy - I forgot how lush the arrangements are. In general, I believe all flautists should be shunned, but I'll admit to begrudgingly enjoying Hubert Laws on this one. In any case, it's a gorgeous album. All of Tyner's work is worth picking up, but the '70's Milestone discs are bargains.

@whyaduck ^Nice at Johnny Jenkins!

I just had an ah-ha sample moment.

Listen to the drum break right at the beginning...

Now listen to this...

It's a short loop but that's gotta be it. DJ
