I haven't lived with it long enough to make that claim, but I don't see myself thinking that just yet. Maybe down the line. Part of the problem is that my favorite album from them will always be The Bends, because that is the first album I heard from them back in the 90s. It might not be their most "accomplished" album or whatever, but it's my personal favorite and that hasn't really changed in a long time. Of their later records the one I listen to the most is In Rainbows.

Wes Montgomery - Full House CD



Wes needs no introduction. I love pretty much everything he did on Riverside, and some of his Verve-era stuff is really good too. Sometimes I find myself enjoy this live album or "Smokin' at the Half Note" more than his studio stuff.

Freddie Hubbard - Curtis Fuller - Yusef Lateef - Gettin' It Together LP



So here is an example of record company cash-in that I've seen in jazz a few times, but this has also extended to other types of music of course. This album was originally released under Fuller's name as "Boss Of The Soul-Stream Trombone" on Warwick Records in 1961. At some point in the early 70s (from what info I could gather), this label TCB Records gets ahold of the rights to the album as decided to reissue it with different cover art and put Freddie as top billing on the LP. This was right around the time of Freddie's CTI LPs that were having some success, so they probably thought it would sell better that way than packaging it under Fuller's name. Shady, right?

At any rate, the album is good, but nothing monumental or groundbreaking. If you like early 60s hard bop, grab this if you see it. This particular pressing isn't worth much on the collector market, but it's good jazz.
