Manchester Orchestra - A Black Mile To The Surface[/url]

Camp Cope plays some pop punk-tinged indie rock with female vocals (which seems to have been blowing up for the last couple of years in some DIY/indie scenes).

Never heard of either band, need to check these out more fully.

Not familiar with this either but I like what I hear. Another one I need to make time to check out in more detail.

I'm not terribly familiar with Manchester Orchestra, but I do like what little I have heard from them. I should spend some time digging into their stuff.

Camp Cope is awesome. I really dig the melancholy sound that's unique to Aussie alt-rock.

If you like stuff from their newest album, I recommend checking out Simple Math. It's the album that bridges their old sound with who they are now.

Ensnared - Dysangelium

Been listening to this lately after discovering this band on a podcast. This is the first full-length album by this death metal band from Sweden, after a couple of EP releases. It takes a lot for a newer band like this to impress me, but I like what Ensnared is doing here. Their style is based more on the thrashy late 80s style of death metal rather than the 90s style most newer bands are playing now. The band takes some atmospheric cues from black metal and each song on the album is stitched together with an instrumental interlude. I don't think these interludes are filler at all. They add a lot to the flavor of the album for me.

Willis Jackson - Please Mr. Jackson LP

Laid back soul jazz circa 1959. Unlike the other Brother Jack McDuff-associated record I posted recently, this one focuses less on upbeat groovers and more on the soulful, slow-burn tracks. Great for late night or early morning listening.
