Quote Strap yourselves in, folks. In this 1981 segment from ABC's 20/20 called Rappin' to the Beat, anchors attempt to explain rap and hip-hop. A few things to watch for: 1. When the anchor explains that rap has "no melody." (!) 2. A 22-year-old Kurtis Blow performing live. (!!) 3. When the anchors refer to Double Dutch as "a street game" where "iby uptownkid - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

I gave him a 7....I agree with everything that JayBrown said. Most of the prolific producers before him, during his tenure and after, draw (or have drawn) the same type of inspiration and vision within the genre as well as outside of the genre. Personally, I don't see too much that separates him from anyone else (on that beat-making level)...outside of what beat machine and drum kits wasby uptownkid - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

I guess I could've initially said the same about Daryl Hall and his show. renovating homes, on DIY network ( click here )....but after seeing the house he restored, that he does the show, Live From Daryl's House from, I can see it (for him)..... peace.by uptownkid - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
I'm not feeling that D'Angelo album at all (musically and vocally)....sounds like he/they were rushing to put something out. Big K.R.I.T. album starts out good, but kinda fades towards the end. maybe I need to re-listen to it again. I think the title track/song, 'Cadillactica' is probably the only gem on the album (big shout out to DJ Khalil on production on that track -by uptownkid - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
