I'll start with the one that started it all for me... Various Artists - Baaddasssss! (Vinyl Sampler) (BBE Records) ^This soundtrack exists only in sampler on vinyl otherwise the CD is the full length release. This is frankly more than good enough for me. It has the best songs from the movie and the ones it doesn't have are really just dialogs. So I saw the movie when it camby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

QuoteLionsMouth QuoteGordon Rekcikssa QuoteLionsMouth The Blue Nile - Hats A word of warning: the old, un-remastered version of this album on CD (either U.S. or U.K. pressing) was mastered with pre-emphasis. Many newer CD players and CD ripping programs won't decode it properly. You'll know something is wrong if the album sounds oddly thin and bright when you play it. QuoteLionsMouth Quoterchecka Awesome stuff JB, particularly that Be William DeVaughn. You gotta also get the "Be thankful for what you got" 7" since it has part 2 of that song which is INCREDIBLY funky and soulful. I'm guessing part 2 is a track that never got radio airplay? Yes. It's kind of like a dub version in a way. Instrumental heavy on the beats in the begiby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteLionsMouth That sounds pretty good. A shame it's subscription only. It's not only subscription I have it too and bought it outright when it came out from DGA. Really good psych, well worth seeking for you, but like a lot of Numero joints not cheap.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^ Good stuff Seith. I only have one Paul Desmond album on CTI, A Day in a Life. The Beatles cover song is a good one but the rest of that album is eh.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

I've been wanting Atomic Forest for a long time. Seems to be sold out every time I spot it on DGA. While for the most part I've strayed from Stones Throw, it's sub labels like Now Again are undeniably dope. Run by Egon who I think frankly has a better ear for catalog selection than Peanut Butter Wolf. Another good sub label of Stones Throw is Leaving Records. They have been maby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^Awesome write up, thanks for that. I am not a HUGE Grateful Dead fan however I really do appreciate their music and Jerry was an undoubtably amazing guitarist on multiple levels. I have some of his side project works with David Grisman "Plays Miles Davis" that is stunningly beautiful Jazz renditions of staple miles songs. I like the classic Dead tracks and I like all the oddball hby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Got some nice Jazz freebies lately from a parent of a friend of my wife's who said fuck it to all her vinyl and dumped it on me. I got rid of the garbage and kept the goodies... Why is it that EVERY online article is loaded to the brim with ads that pop up over the part you are trying to read as you are reading! WTF!!! Way to piss off your readers and get me to never go back to that page again. Problem is, EVERYONE does this shit. You can't read online any more without the annoying pop up harassing you, following your scrolling so you can't get away from itby rchecka - General Discussion
That's the perfect candidate record for a beer coaster. Find a hole saw, mount it to your drill, court out the label, spat with lacquer, glee cork to the bottom, and that's the coolest coaster ever. If is unplayable, why not? All I've ever found on the sides of the road is miles of cassette tape unwound.by rchecka - General Discussion
Discogs rant, get ready for this crazy bullshit. Bought a Heavy Metal record from a guy on Discogs. Ordered it last Thursday, he invoiced me immediately and I paid immediately that day. (This is the norm for a lot of these clowns, quick to invoice, quick to receive payment, then they sit on their hands and ship whenever they feel like no longer being a shut in) So I waited all day Thur, Fridby rchecka - General Discussion
@ Jaybrown, you really gotta get that album, it's something special and I know you'd love it. "Real" music. You got me into a few modern jazz records, now it's my turn to return the favor.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Lately I've had this on repeat... Go Go Penguin - Mad Made Object 2LP (Blue Note Records) 2016 ^This trio is spinning heads right now. Not since Medeski Martin and Wood has such an interesting group of primary threes graced the newest roster of Blue Note Records. I feel like my reviewing of this album will not do it justice. Blue Note picked these guys up, so do I really needby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^You gotta love that cover. The (70s) modern chastity belt with keyless entry. Jack McDuff is KILLER funky jazz. I got some 45s from him but no albums, but needless to say it's my kind of funk jazz.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^That one is still my favorite Roots album. They were at the top of their game back then. (Not that they aren't now)by rchecka - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Recently... Soulive - Turn It Out Remixed (Velour Recordings) 2003 ^This is a great place to put this record because I wouldn't know how to file it under a genre topic. Personally I keep it in my vastly integrated loosely defined Jazz / Soul / Funk section. Soulive for those who don't know are basically a jazz / funk hippy jam band and this is a remix of their album Turn Itby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

Recently... Ultravox - Ha!-Ha!-Ha! LP (Island Records) 1977 ^I looked this up on Discogs to get the date of release and they put it under new wave and post punk. That surprises me because to my ears it's straight up punk music. I suppose technically it's post punk but seeing as it has some of the finest elements of sound that 70s punk has to offer I'll keep it in that lby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

This weekend... Garage Á Trois* – Always Be Happy, But Stay Evil LP (The Royal Potato Family) 2011 ^Stunning album. Proof positive not to judge an album by it's cover. Found this in my local shop with the old price tags of $16.99 crossed off until it ended on $8.99. Looked it up on discogs, noticed the high reviews, took a chance. Best album I've bought on a whim in yeaby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Quoterchecka Right now, Revolting Cocks - Do Ya Think I'm Sexy (Rod Stewart Cover) I love RevCo and all those other great projects Al Jougensen was involved with back in the 90s.
