I've only got Still Bill and that single, but I'm always looking for more. Do you have the MoFi version of Live? How's it sound? It's about the same price as a NM OG - that's always a tough choice.by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Bill Withers - Lean On Me / Better Off Dead My nomination for most bipolar single in history. If you're not familiar with Better Off Dead, be sure to listen to the end.by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

^ I wish it worked well enough to tell me what cheesy 70s music they're playing in the supermarket. Every now and then it's "what the hell is that damned song - maybe Google will be able to figure it out". But apparently barely audible music with a background of whining children and fake thunderstorm effects is too much for even Google.by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Wipers - Youth Of America Recorded in 1981, 2007 repress - Zeno Records on Jackpot imprint I'll join in - here's another quality repress - purchased direct from the artist's label. Zeno Records is run by Greg Sage (The Wipers pretty much is Greg Sage - writer, producer, etc.) so it's clear why so much care was taken with this issue. Dead quiet, great sounding, no eby whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Manu Dibango - Soul Makossa Atlantic 1972 promo I had a damned long day, and the week's going to be hell - time to relax and this does it. Great, classic afro-soul-jazz disc. The title track's been sampled and "paraphrased" endlessly, but the rest of the album has a great groove to it, too. Dibango's catalog is pretty massive - I think I'll start keeping anby whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^ I like that sense of discovery when I put on a piece of music for the first time, so when I shop for music I try not to listen to much of a record before I decide if I'm going to buy it. Sounds like you had a great arrangement where you got to enjoy playing something you've never heard before and then decide if you'll buy it. It's kind of weird that streaming music justby whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Quoterchecka I didn't like the first song on the first album and I figured people would turn it off if I posted that entire album link because they are just as ADD as I am. This. Plus the first song was called Freedom Flight. I had pretty high expectations that had very little chance of being met. I went back and listened to a couple more songs - track 3 (Pan's Lament) was whereby whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^ Hadn't listened to Black Uhuru in a while. That definitely put a smile on my face - it's going to be getting more time on the table for sure.by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Black Uhuru - The Dub Factor 1983 Island Records Mango imprint - US I'll add to the Black Uhuru lovefest with another one from this morning's box. Had to listen to Puffed Out twice - I love the guitar riff on that.by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
X-Ray Spex - Germ Free Adolescents 1978 EMI UK Gil Scott-Heron - Pieces of a Man 1971 Flying Dutchman Got a box from one of my top enablers this morning - these were the first 2 discs I played (I'm on side two of Pieces of a Man right now). I've been meaning to pick up a copy of Germ Free Adolescents for ages, but never saw it in my usual haunts, so when this showedby whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Donny Hathaway was an amazing talent - I literally just listened to that album yesterday. His recordings with Roberta Flack are fantastic, too.by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Paul Weller - 22 Dreams Absolutely fantastic album by ex-Jam frontman Paul Weller. I'm listening to it for the third time and I'm still astounded by the breadth of this record - soul, jazz, latin, rock influences all showing up. Some very sophisticated, lovely arrangements here. ^ That's a couple of great picks. It's been ages since I've heard "I Wanna Destroy You" - what a great song. I've never listened to that full album - and I'm amazed to see that it's on Tidal (a version with 30(!) bonus tracks) - I'll listen to it tomorrow at work. Musta Paraati is entirely new to me - it's got a mood going. Generally Iby whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Bullet Lavolta - S/T 1988 EP on Taang. Post punk proto-grunge with a bad childhood. Comes right up against hair metal without quite crossing over. Don't listen to the words.by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteLionsMouth @Whyaduck, welcome! That record looks interesting. I always look for 70s jazz when I'm browsing used vinyl. That stuff is WAY undervalued among record collectors and jazz nerds IMHO and there are a lot of gems out there that can still be picked up dirt cheap or at least at reasonable prices. I will definitely keep an eye out for that one. There is a store near me that seemby whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Theatre Of Hate sure liked the reverb. Cool stuff - not sure if I've ever heard it before. As far as Mick Jones and spaghetti westerns goes - cue it up at 4:10:by whyaduck - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
