it's a mixtape in name only - completely unmixed, all original beats, full songs. I would say that "mixtape" technically means they don't have to worry about copyright so much, or go through a record company... and ALC has dug DEEP on this one. I'm feeling it more than Dr Lecter - might be Bronson's best release yet, and IMO ALC's best top to bottom production.by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Whoah.... Shadow central up in here! Biggup! DJ Food is / are dope... depending on the time period, I think. You guys know that DJ Food has been different people at different times? Started out as Coldcut (Matt Black and Jonathan Moore) while they were still signed to their old label (couldn't use the name Coldcut due to contracts). Then they added Strictly Kev (current DJ Food) and Patby Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Best album of the year hands down: Absolute classic.by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Some great mentions here.... I have to check Breaking Bad, I keep getting told how brilliant it is. Checka - can't blieve I forgot Twin Peaks. Which reminds me.... have you heard about this? http://moviehole.net/201260661mark-frost-hints-at-possible-twin-peaks-returnby Jimmy Green - General Discussion
sorry man, life is very busy at the minute, I only get to log in every few days. :/by Jimmy Green - General Discussion
Not cool man. I can empathise with how that must have been.... although I'm not driving as much as that. Don't know how long I want to keep doing it though.by Jimmy Green - General Discussion
I copped a couple of 7"s from a mate a week or so ago.... Do The Slurp (original press) - 7-11 King Heroin (original press) - James Brownby Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
I've been copying my UBB vinyl (all vols, from vol 1 to the semi-official vol 26) over to MP3 so I can a) listen to it in the car, and b) use it for DJing with Serato (and not ruin it any more than it's already ruined with constant backspinning) In doing so, I'm listening to all the tracks all the way through, for what is the first time ever for me. I'm discovering a feby Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
....there's not much for me to vent about at the minute but in the spirit of sharing, I'll try. I have to drive over an hour to work and an hour back, which - added to my newly extended day - makes me cross.by Jimmy Green - General Discussion
Haha, wow, cheers folks! I've only just seen this for some reason... thank you very much.by Jimmy Green - General Discussion
....yep, sorry, good point. But still seems a bit of a thankless task.by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
The Runnin blend is pretty poor, I thought... out of time and acapella too low in the mix. Some of the others sound like they could be good, but just wondering why it's being done. Some blends I can get behind - hell, I do them myself - but others seem a little unnecessary. I'll still check it though - might be awesome!by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
I dunno man.... there was a remix competition where you could remix the original track "Gangster Chronicle" and the winning entry would be included on the reissue. However... to give you an idea of how slow things are going, the deadline to enter your remix was January, and the final ten were only announced last month. No word yet on who the winner is... not me, I know that much. I emby Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
That Jeanius album with 9th Wonder was one of the best albums of the year (when it originally leaked.... the official release with the replayed samples was musically weaker). Haven't heard much of her recently other than following her on twitter, which is pretty funny. She did a dope track with Herbaliser, I think, back when she was called What What.by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Yo! Long time no post, things have been busy this end... moved house, got married... all good. Here's a track a mate of mine has recorded over an old beat of mine - have a listen and let me know what you think. I like it.by Jimmy Green - Member Submissions
I like this a lot, although I would have liked it more with less juggling / doubles routines. (I have the full length Beasties Scenario track... it's the same lyrics repeated three times with each of them spitting the same verse. Apparently they were going to cut it together and make it an interplay thing, or I think I read that somewhere.)by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Bit of a slow down with the reissue, it would seem - the remix is still being chosen and I haven't heard anything back from the company reissuing apart from that. I've heard two rumours - it'll be a straight reissue with a remix tacked on to the end, OR it'll be a boxset of everything they did with a couple of extra jewels added and some photos. I'm hoping for the latter,by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

That Pharcyde "Fly As Pie" remix is dope as hell. Done by the group themselves... re-recorded over a Roy Ayers loop. What's not to like? The Brixton Flava remix is dogshit though.by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

It's OK. I prefer the non skitted version. If you want to check it out, let me know. ;Pby Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
"I wake you up like a gun in the face" - Masta Ace, Nostalgia "On top of the world but on the bottom of the food chain" - Jehst (to be fair, Jehst has got quotables for DAYS)by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
My favourite Redman album. Pre-internet days I went to a lot of trouble to get this on vinyl after I copped it on CD because the vinyl version is straight tracks, whereas the CD version is skitted-out... seriously, every track is somehow segued into the following one.by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Yeah man, it's interesting stuff. I've got ones for Check Your Head, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty too. They're all really interesting.by Jimmy Green - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Cheers man, sorry, forgot about the mix section of this forum.by Jimmy Green - Member Submissions
RIP MCA. I'm shocked and very saddened at his passing. The Beasties were one of my favourite groups of all time, and essentially worked as the soundtrack to my life - school, 6th form, college, 1st job, the list goes on. Here's my mix from a couple of years back - remixes, exclusive blends all stuck together with interviews / soundbites etc. Check it out. PLAY:by Jimmy Green - Member Submissions
