Please forgive another non-rap related thread. But I'm curious and bored.
I have 13 John Coltrane, 11 Yusef Lateef (14 if you count comps of earlier releases), 8 Horace Silver and 6 James Moody.
Hmm, need to step my completist game up...

QuoteBM311.The Park Era - Would have loved to put this era in a bottle and ship it to every Hip Hop follower for the whole 40.
Before the money, before the fame, before it even became a culture.Just two turntables a microphone, some Bambaataa breakbeats and some scuffed up knees.
Good thread. As for park jams, I'm planning my next documentray, HIPHOP ON WAX, about the making of the first ev

I unfortunately don't have copies for sale at home. We do it indie and limited and sell all copies directly from the website. The DVD is 17$ each + shipping. Hope that's ok.

Peace y'all!
After the success of the BEAT DIGGIN' DVD I've started working on a new hiphop docu: HIPHOP ON WAX, about the first rap records and the old school legends who made them.
HIPHOP ON WAX - A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE EARLIEST RAP RECORDS (A crowd-funded work in progress)
The film explores how pioneering rappers first started working together with studio musician

^This is my joint. He really does some special moves on this.
I originally copped years ago for the track Tunji that was used in Mo' Better Blues if anyone remembers. Later the whole album has become a fave of mine. Only recently did I find out that the majestic opening track Out of this world is yet another popular pop/show tune a la My favorite things. Trane

That Siah and Yeshua Dapo ED Visualz EP is a classic in my book. I finally picked it up on wax recently (from a DWG'er) and Jesper must've really lucked out coming up on that one for cheap...it's not crazy expensive, but a nice copy is definitely in the $40-60 range. Anyways, FANTASTIC record.
Also, Jesper, that Antonio Carlos e Jocafi is something I've be

Pretty funny that he believes he is 8 in that pic!! If he's 18 now then the album would have come out in 2001, 4 years after BIG died...

Ramsey Louis is the man. How's that Cadet records album Jesper?
Very nice, but pretty straight-forward piano-driven souljazz. Lot's of his albums from the period sound similar.
The one w Les Fleurs (used for Jazz Thing) is the doper one from that period IMO.
