I second the 3.5 rating, good not great and didn't do much for me after the first lp. They were forerunners of that style though and stayed true to themselves. Never knew about that beef with LOTUG but now I finally know who they were talking about on "Here come the lords".

That "Here Comes the Lords" is such a dope song too.

But man, "East Coast", "Mic Checka" "If Only" "Check It Out" "Gimme Dat Micraphone" "No Diggedy" "Real Hip Hop" all are solid joints too. I love the bassline on East Coast, it's so simple and effective.

^^^no doubt. That's what you get when u get good production (underneath ill rhymes/ill flow) - pretty much, classic production, on the joints u mentioned (including the album version of 'Real Hip Hop' (which i think Premo did...if i remember correctly) and the Pete Rock remix (version)). That's the joints that heads be like, "AAAAH MAAAANNNN!", when they come on. Ya dig?

peace.

They're OK... I voted 3 cos I don't listen to them regularly and because when I have listened to them recently I've realised how that stiggedy stiggedy style was more gimmicky than I realised, even back then. To do one track in that style as a one-off - good. To make a career out of it - stretching it a bit IMO. Saying that, they did some classic tracks. They had some great remixes as well, by some of the best, as Uptown said... Pete Rock, Premo, and let's not forget the Spinna remix of Microphone Master.

Much less Quagmire style rhyming on this one.
