Beastie Boys hit with lawsuit
May 8, 2012, 8:21 AM EST
WENN

The Beastie Boys are facing a copyright lawsuit just days after the death of band member Adam Yauch.

Executives at music label Tuf America launched a legal battle last week, claiming that the band members illegally sampled Trouble Funk's "Say What" and "Drop the Bomb" on four of their early songs: "The New Style," "Car Thief," "Shadrach" and "Hold It Now, Hit it."

Tuf America chiefs are seeking a trial to determine the appropriate amount of damages, according to AllHipHop.com. The papers were filed at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday, just one day before Yauch, also known as MCA, passed away after a three-year battle with cancer.

^Horrible timing, but the lawyers don't give a funk.

Not bitching, but just a reminder to everyone... We got a sticky for news like this that hasn't had an update in 2 months. It's good for SEO to put these kind of updates there, it'll help us get hits and new members if we can keep that fresh. I don't know if you noticed but now that I figured out SEO Friendly URLs the thread links should start to make sense and get rated according to accuracy and what's current and relevant.nerd

Last night was a Beasties Night for me...

Hip Hop Sampler, Triple Trouble, So What Cha Want, and Sure Shot Remixes. Some really dope remixes on a few of these. I love Triple Trouble so much, great tribute song to Double Trouble.
