i've been out of the loop myself...hadn't heard of this model.

By skimming thorugh the article about it (...and as unfortunate as it seems to MPC purists (like myself....), I guess it's taking form of the natural, (technological) evolution of the MPC, to meet the needs of relevancy and compatibility in the computer/software-world of which we now live in....what do the call it now? "The Information Technology Age"?

^So in other words, guys like myself, non-MPC purists, are more likely to give it a whirl given it's probably not nearly as difficult to learn and is more compatible with other hardware. Seems like a smart change, I'm sure they catered to purists in other ways like the look and feel and basic interface?

I dunno Akai lost me at the 5000, which was a bunch of crap IMO. I really wasnt messing with anything past the 2000. Im suprised
this hasn't generated a lot of buzz. I think Roger Linn needs to go back to Akai and make something happen.
