Name your top 3 "Fresh" Hip Hop Producers.

Fresh, as in...

  • A new kid that's showing knowledge beyond his years.
  • Up and coming talent
  • Still is considered a rookie in the production game compared to older cats, is making moves, but manages to get slept on. (Example: An "old" rookie would be Kev Brown. Technically he's not a rookie at all but is just a kid compared to staple recognized producers.)
  • Age aint nothin' but a number, it could be some old mofo's finally making moves. (K-Def is making moves again, after years of nada. IMO his Redef joints are nice.)
  • Don't mention veterans like Primo, Pete Rock, etc. Think next-level, Hip Hop that is "slept-on" in more mainstream circles.
  • Be picky. Don't mention what is on the tip of your tongue cuz you just heard it, take your time and bust out a tight list.

Do 5 or 10 if you got a bigger list.

IMO there needs to be a distinction between "fresh" and "slept on," I can't think of criminally slept on producers as rookies just cause folks are hearing their stuff for the first time (myself included). Either way, some of those I listed below have been producing for years.

A couple producers that may fit the bill
-Harry Fraud
-Tommy Mas (those Dr. Lecter breaks were fire)
-!llmind...this goes into the category of "been working for years but still kinda slept on" IMO.
-Benzilla
-Audible Doctor

^I'll be honest... I haven't heard of a lot of those both you guys mentioned. embarassed

Dr. Who Dat (Jneiro Jarel) (Making moves with DOOM right now.)
Statik Selectah (Always into something)
Alchemist (Stepping up his palate of samps)
Flying Lotus (His new one looks dope BTW)
Exile (An old rookie, I like his style of beats)
Damu the Fudgemunk (An obvious one, but he keeps the boom bap alive with a distinct modern style, so I think he deserves a mention.)

more later as they come to me.

I think we went a little deeper with our selection , Rchecka. I think because a lot of us here are a little more tapped in that a lot of those names are commonplace to us , so I personally tried to go outside that box with my selections. Most of the ones I picked , I found on bandcamp.com and YouTube. Mostly lofi and downtempo hip hop instrumentals. I've been in that kind of mood lately.
