The first LP was still pretty soft and pop-friendly.
The skits ripped off 3ft High too.

There was some nice sample usage though.

I wouldn't call Black Eyed Pea's first album (Behind the Front) soft or pop-friendly.....I'd call it typical, underground back-packer type rap music- same vibe as all the other backpacking rappers/groups of that time (i.e., Lootpack, J-Live, Aceyaole, etc....).


I actually admit to liking their first album...I don't make no bones about doing that.

We are all talking about "Behind the Front" right? Cuz I remember nothing poppy about it. Granted, I haven't heard it in... I don't know how many years but I can't recall anything popalicious. Ferg wasn't even on their radar back then, and for me at least, it was along the lines of Asheru and Blu Black and other chillpacker 98 music.
