Looks dope !! I sent a request to try to get it played at a local theater a few days ago . They emailed me back and said that they were already trying to get it int the Belcourt , which is a local theater that shows mostly indie flicks and documentaries . Keeping my fingers crossed !!

...

On the Hip Hop biz tip, PBW is the Don of underground HH label heads and has been for a long minute.

Stones Throw sells, especially the DOOM, Dilla, Madlib catalog.

Yet none of those dudes have been making any notable new moves lately... meanwhile the 'press and repress until demand diminishes and then reup as needed' mentality is still working. Gotta hand it to them for having a rock solid record label business model all these years.

Now if only they can recruit some new fucking rap talent. As much as I can appreciate the classics, where's the fresh rookie of the year MC that they so desperately need? Frankly, we haven't seen a promising Stones Throw rap album since, maybe, Guilty Simpson and his debut was long ago.

It'd be nice if there was a new breed of Stones Throw rap records, something outta of predictable far leftfield.

soap box rant
