^Q-Tip?? huh?

He's a great producer, but come on, quality and quantity he loses that one. I like GURU's productions too, but he's a rapper, and you gotta balance output overall.

I insist you detract Q-Tip. grouch

BTW: Vote people. We have an underutilized poll above.

I gotta ride with Beatlover and Uptown kid on this one . Q-Tip is a great producer with one of the illest sample games in the industry.

^OK, I know that this debate is opinion based and there are no wrong answers here, but yeah, pretty much everyone here but me is wrong on the Q-Tip vs Dilla as producer battle. Velma

I love Q-Tips productions, don't get me wrong, I know he's got dope beats, I love his last 2 albums and his various dope but sporadic productions, but for every one of his good productions you name I can name 5 good Dilla beats. Hell, I'll bet if Q-Tip was in here right now, he'd be the first to tell you Dilla was better, pound for pound, track for track.

Sure, Dilla had some mediocre beats too, not everything he dropped was fire, but in sheer volume alone, even after being deceased for almost 10 years, Q-Tip hasn't really caught up in terms of the amount of quality output.

Hell, how much of his beats came out postmortem? They are still to this day unearthing and releasing his beats. The man was like Madlib in terms of workaholic, non-stop output, and like Madlib you get the good with the bad, and like Madlib it's mostly pretty dope output.

Madlib vs Dilla (Good Comparison, same styles and level)
Dilla vs Q-Tip (Dilla probably has more than double the output)

Not to mention, they are very different. They both have signature sounds, but they are like yin and yang, Jay Dee was more abstract and blunted and fairly experimental especially towards the end of his life. Q-Tip is funky, heavy on the boom bap, more straight forward Hip Hop and simple beats, but in terms of output, it's few and far in between.

Respect to all your opinions and Respect to Q-Tip but no. Just no. tongue sticking out smiley

stirring the pot
