I actually went to the exhibit in which Bam's record were on display in NYC last year. Flipped through quite a few of them (there was a turntable there that you could play records on too). Truthfully there was loads of crap (I imagine it was pretty well picked through). I know Academy Records in Brooklyn was selling off some records from the collection for a $1 apiece at some point this week.

^Interesting, I'm sure! Regarding the crap records, that's probably very true. It's true with every DJ collection I've ever seen, the longer the DJ is spinning the more of it they accumulated. He bought a ton of them himself but he also got a shit-ton of promos thrown his way that he never purged or got around to playing. The whole "Oh, yer that Afrika Bambaataa DJ, well you need to be playing my joint!" thing non-stop for 30 years = a whole lot of schwag records.

Still, it musta been an honor to flip thru that, digging for the diamond.
