In case you missed it , DE LA Soul has a new album they are trying to get out on kickstarter. It has already reached it's goal , but if you want to pre-order , get it HERE ..

BTW , if this is old news , I apologize. I have been way outside the loop lately .

Just heard about this recently. The concept for beatmaking on this could be interesting. I'm not really too familiar/into later/more recent De La stuff, but I'd be curious to hear what they come up with once it is done.

^^ agreed about the beat making . They ran into so many problems in the past with uncleared samples , so I think it was a brilliant idea to to pay and record studio musicians and then sample that. I'll be a DE LA fan until I'm too old to enjoy music ( I hope that never happens ), so if l can scrounge up a little dough I'm copping the vinyl.

Yeah, sample clearance has had an unfortunate damper on hip-hop over the last couple decades. I guess there are guys out there that still make beats using a lot of samples, but can't choose from the wide swath of stuff that they might have gotten away with up to the early/mid 90s.

good lookin' out on the Intel, jaybrown. i'm a fan of De La...but, not too sure of how this effort will end up, by looking at the collaborating artists...really confused

We have a fantastic cast of artist we're collaborating with. So far Damon Albarn (of Blur/Gorillaz), 2 Chainz, Little Dragon, and David Byrne (of Talking Heads) have blessed us with their talents; and we’ll have more announcements of collabs to come, right here on Kickstarter.

...just sounds like it's going to be a little too "watered down" for my taste...at least, in the way I like to hear a good De La album....

peace.
