Anyone else a fan of this album? I got turned onto it about 5 years ago and wondered why I didn't know about it sooner. Awhile back, a local store had a 2xLP promo copy in stock in excellent condition for cheap. I took it up to the counter and ended up getting it free because I was buying a bunch of other stuff. Put it on, hadn't listened to it in quite some time and remembered how good it was.

My collection of hip-hop on vinyl is very small but this is the type of thing I look out for. Too bad stores in my area aren't really good for hip-hop at all. Occasionally they'll stock some pricey reissues but that's about it...

I just now saw this thread....

..yeah - dope album. I remember when it dropped in like '95....a few joints of the album was pretty heavily rotated in NYC - on Hot97 and on various (NYC area) DJ's mixtapes - like, 'wherever you are', Masta I.C. (prolly the biggest single off the album), "Shit's Real'.

Great production from folks like Da Beatminerz, Buck Wild...Mark (da) Spark.

side note - this album was like a (audio) catalyst for Murder Inc/Irv Gotti, Ja Rule...and DMX (although DMX was hustling his rap game well before '95)..with Ja Rule and DMX (and a pre-Reasonable Doubt, Jay Z) featured on 'Time To Build'....Irv Gotti with production credits for Time To Build and Shit's Real.

peace.

Time to Build is a good track and I like the other singles too. I don't recall ever hearing any of the songs on the radio. Rap/R&B stations in Random City, USA, pretty much stuck to the most mainstream stuff possible at the time.

Was never into any of the Murder Inc. artists, so I didn't pay much attention to the connection.
