Just thought I'd throw this one in, as I found the process generally positive.
I've been playing more vinyl recently, due to doing some online sets and endevoring once again into the world of learning to scratch.
So digging through my collection and finding some favourites with quite a bit of surface noise I decided to try the PVA glue method of cleaning.
Tried 3 records each time perfecting the process.:
Gag Seal Breaks - Scratch Tool
2Live Crews 1st LP
Funkadelics 1st LP (I did this one last as its the hardest and most expensive to replace)

Generally I was very impressed. The 2 Live Crew improvement was marginal. The Funkadelic one improved a lot with some surface noise still present(it was in quite poor condition) and the Sealed breaks one improved massively.
Plus its quite satisfying creating a reverse flexidisc (no I didnt attempt to play one)

Just thought I'd share incase anyones curious to try.
I would suggest trying on something less valuable until you feel comfortable. Check youtube for method.
....and I wont be responsible if it all goes wrong, you're all grown ups. hehe.

I did try this once. It does work but I would only use it again as a last resort method due to the time and hassle. If you don't mind something that can be potentially messy, or waiting, it's fine. One thing to watch out for is the static created during the glue removal. You can get rid of that by running the record through a Spin Clean or record cleaning machine when you are done with the glue method. I also don't recommend doing this on your turntable(s). When I did this I used flat counter space and a cake icing spatula to spread the glue. Much easier to clean up that if you make a mess with the glue. Make sure you use the right brand of glue also. Not every brand will work. Titebond II is the main brand if you are in the U.S.

I did this on a counter top and on the turntable.
I found the turntable swithed on much easier to control, I got a much more even and thin layer. Which dried much quicker.
I also did a water/isopropyl clean afterwards.

Agreed, its a last resort and definitely helps when all else fails. Unless you own some pro cleaning equipment.
