Just for fun...

Thought I'd share a few vacation pics\stories with you guys. Some of you guys have known me and Uptownkid for a few years, so I figured you might wanna see what we were up to this past weekend.

In a nutshell, it was a great vacation, a nice chance for me to chill w/ Uptown in DC and spend some quality time with my wife on our 10th anniversary.

A lil background: About 6 years ago, P came to my hometown to chill out w/ me, so it was about time I returned the favor and went to his town which is not surprisingly a lot more hip then mine LOL.

(Found the Wisconsin trip thread from back in the day!)

Anyway, day one we chilled at Uptownkid's place and got nice.

For those of you who don't know, P has probably every single Hip Hop album that matters on either CD, record or both. His CD collection is sick, he has every Hip Hop album that you would want, it blows my CD collection out of the water. I got a man room (my studio), P has a man house! Every room except the bath is graced w/ CDs DVDs, Wax, posters, etc... He's got a massive DVD collection of thousands of titles too. I spent the first night chillin w/ him and trying to go through em all to see what's good. We had a few drinks, caught up a little, then hit the town with his girlfriend and my wife.

Day two we all hit the Downtown DC hotspots. Speaking of hot, it was ABSOLUTELY UNGODLY HOT (120 degrees heat index) the whole time we were there so we were dying to get into AC after walking around a few minutes outside.

There's a lot to do in DC, but we all decided to start at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

(I realize art doesn't translate well on photographs but you get the drift, these are a few of my favorite pieces)

This one P was buggin' on, saying it wasn't very good. You gotta see it in motion to appreciate it.

^How anyone could not like the subtle changes in linear motion the translucent cloth folds create is beyond me. (don't worry, I won't get all artsy fartsy on yall, LOL.)

Anyway, after lunch, the ladies went shopping and me and Uptown decided to do a little crate digging at SOM Records.

We found it at the end of this tiny narrow basement stairway barely visible from the street. It's a small store, and it didn't have AC so when we got in there and started digging I was literally dripping sweat over the stacks like rain as I dug, I'll bet the owner just loved that LOL. We dug for about an hour, both of us found a few really nice joints reasonably priced that we took outta there.

A few that I copped:

^those Reggae records are top notch by the way, I'm thrilled to have those now.

Then we hit some bars, had a late dinner with the women and cashed in for the night.

The last two days me and my wife did our own little touristy things, hitting up the cigar shop in Georgetown...

...did a little fine dining, and the final night ate at THE BEST PIZZA JOINT IN DC called Pizzaria Paridiso. I'm saying, this place had the best pizza I have ever eaten, it was like I was on cloud nine. If you ever get out to that area, make sure you eat their stone oven wood fired pizzas, it's worth it.

^The cooks thought I was some weird tourist taking their pictures, well I was LOL.

We spent the last few quality hours of our trip chillin' in Dupont Circle with my wife listening to some really nice street musicians, watching this old dude fade off and catch himself from falling forward numerous times.

To sum up, it was an absolute blast, I'll never forget my vacation in DC. A sincere thanks to P and his girlfriend for taking me and Jen in and showing us around town. He'd never want anyone to know it, but he's a great host and Jen and I definitely appreciate the hospitality he and his girlfriend showed us. Can't wait to visit DC again another day, we barely scratched the surface of that town.

I forgot to show a pic of P's wax, although this pic definitely doesn't do it justice. It's blurry and only a portion of it.

...last pic, me and my wife on the evening of our 10th anniversary at a really fun Japanese restaurant.

^I figured I better ask her permission before using this pic and she was like "What do I care, they don't know me." LOL

P, what was the name of that Japanese restaurant?

They were over the top, the cook was throwing eggs at Jen, tossing chicken off the grill through the air and in our mouths. Chicks can't catch flying food with their mouths, why is that? LOL.

Rchecka - glad you and wifey had a good time and was glad to have you two as guests. Hope, all-in-all, that it was s dope 10th Anniversary for you two. Couldn't do anything about the 300 degree weather, but we still made due. maybe next you'll have to look at a spring or fall trip.

dont remember the name of the Japanese Seafood Steak house....but, they all are kind of the same to me. good food...good times, though. This ones on me.
