Thanks for the kind words . I copped a good wet/dry vac yesterday.. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was just a basement , but like I said ,its a finished basement where we spend most of our time and sleep . but its over now and things are drying up nicely .aside from money , no big losses.

I just added up all my unpaid invoices for IT and web work I've already completed for the year. Fuckers owe me 4,260 dollars for my time that they benefited from and I got zilch out of it. angry grinding teeth

I'm gonna take down their websites after one more warning letter but that doesn't apply to the IT work I did so I got nothing on them. Anyone wanna help me bust some heads? I'm a lover not a fighter and I won't even be a lover anymore if I don't bring home bacon for the wife.

One of the major things that sucks about owning a business, I go to work everyday and do work I just don't always get paid for that work. really angry

^^^ you should change your policy and ask for half up front and the other half once the work is complete. If half (50%) is too agreesive for you to propose, then at least have them pay you like, at least 20% up front (once you've done your estimates, of course). You can justify that (to them) by explaing why, exactly like you did in your post above. If anyone balks at that then they are more than likely the type of sh*tbag buiness that will dick you around (once the job is complete and they got what they wanted) - just like the non-paying ones that owe you, right now.

I actually did change my policy with all new clients. I told my last new client that for all new businesses I require payment upon delivery of the completed job. I told him I was sick of getting burned and needed money for all the work I just completed for him the day I delivered his machines to him. He said he totally understood and it's no problem and paid me so I guess that's reasonable. And now that he paid me he's someone I can bill out with normal EOM invoices since he's proven he's a reliable business.

That helps for all new clients but I'm SOL on the money I'm owed right now. I could go to this one dude's place of business and just sit in his waiting area with a stink eye but I'm really not that intimidating. It'd probably look like I was just constipated or something.
