It's on sale for $329 right now at a very reputable Dealer with free shipping: http://turntablelab.com/products/bellari-vp-530-usb-tube-phono-preamp

You can bypass this preamp when you get a mixer, or you can incorporate it on an analog switch. Switch it over to that for listening purposes, and switch output over to the mixer for 12" mixing.

If you got the money and want quality, go for it.

Hey thanks for the heads up, I've actually had my eye on that one.

I just wanna clarify, would I be able to use this to record from a mixer or would it be only capable of connection to the computer straight from the TT? If I was gonna have to use the mixer OUT to the computer bypassing this piece of equipment then maybe its worth thinking about getting a nice external soundcard that would be more universal? I'm a little confused by the analog switch you're talking about, ultimately whenever possible I'd like to buy something I could continue using if another TT ever lands.

I have to say, my current preamp is a nice one for my needs and ears (NAD also makes a USB version for a $100 more) but is obviously not on par with the Bellari. To me it sounds like the Bellari is a very nice upgrade on the listening end with the added functionality of USB recording. While I could obviously stand an audio upgrade I'm not sure its necessary for me for the time being (though I know this is a purchase worth keeping longterm).

I'll have to do some thinking, I saw a couple on Ebay at fair prices as well and while that one you've listed above is clearly a steal I'm not sure I can quite jump in yet.

Thanks for all the advice, very much appreciated! I'm clearly not up on the ins and outs of this stuff so the advice is very welcome. Peace, Jay

You can buy a mixer that doesn't have a preamp if you get that. Or, you can get an RCA switch that switchest your turntable output to the mixer when you are mixing and back to the Belari for listening or recording purposes. Either way, you can keep it in your setup without unplugging it everytime you want to mix with 2 turntables.
