Dickies and chucks were big in my middle school. Boyz In The Hood had just came out and gangsta rap was at a high point when I was in middle school (around '91-'93). All of the Nashville kids wanted to be west coast thugs back then..

yeah, BoomBap...no doubt - parachute pants was big back in the early-mid 80's. I dont think they made it over to the UK for them to catch on to that fashion piece, during that era (hence, Jaysio Fresh's reply). Plus, you could do windmills for days wear a pair of them...extra slick, for the B-boy moves.

peace.

Def' not . I guess anyone in the timeframe you described that was over here and into hip hop would've been copying looks from an older period in hip hop from the US. We did have the casuals (footbal firm derived fashions) that mixed in some of their own italian designer labels with other stuff you would recognise.
I do remember the 'real' Roxanne on Top of the Pops doing Bang Zoom wearing something I called Genie pants which might be like the things you mention. I fell in love (not with the pants).

I was in middle school in the late 80's so I rocked Triple Fat Goose, Adidas shell toes, Champion sweat shirts, Keds, Au Coton, Multiples, etc. & yes, definitely parachute pants! & I wore Z Cavarrici's LMAO
